PALCASA has the objective of establishing the principles and general guidelines to ensure that the development of its activities is carried out under the best sustainability standards. These include continuous improvement, stakeholder relations, education and training, diversity and inclusion, resource efficiency, climate change mitigation, and innovation.
It is currently in the process of obtaining Roundtable Certification of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and Supply Chain and International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (RSCC).
PALCASA was born as an initiative of many producers in the Sula Valley area in 1999. With the help of the national banks putting their land as collateral they obtained financing to buy and install their own extraction plant, starting operations in 2004, guaranteeing fair and competitive prices small and medium producer as well as the reception of all the fruit. It is located in Aldea El Castaño, 15 kilometers from El progreso towards the port of Tela between the communities of Guaymitas and La Colorada.
It has an extractive plant of 60 MT per hour, a refining plant of 100 MT per day, an electric generation plant with biomass of 3400 kWh and a biogas plant of 2200 Kwh. PALCASA can generate in its plants about 200 direct jobs and more than 3000 indirect jobs in the farms. The extraction plant is supplied with more than 10,000 hectares of African palm plantations managed by more than 600 small and medium producers and has a social influence of 1,266 associates.
